IC TheatreWorks spring production, 鈥淪he Kills Monsters,鈥� opens March 23
抖阴pro TheatreWorks presents 鈥淪he Kills Monsters鈥� written by Qui Nguyen and directed by Dr. Nancy Taylor Porter, professor of theatre, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in McGaw Fine Arts Center鈥檚 Sibert Theatre.
Other showtimes are 7:30 p.m. March 28-30 and 2 p.m. March 31. The play contains adult language and themes that may not be suitable for children.
鈥淪he Kills Monsters鈥�* has been heralded as 鈥渁n ingenious comedy鈥� that slips between a Midwest high school and a Dungeons & Dragons quest. The play tells the story of Agnes Evans, an Ohio high school teacher, after the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. As Agnes enters into the world her lost sister created, her playful romp through fanciful landscapes uncovers a deeper lesson. She gains a new understanding of Tilly and begins to see herself through her sister鈥檚 eyes in a way she couldn鈥檛 before her death. The dragons Agnes encounters and slays are more real than she ever imagined and reveal her sister鈥檚 hidden battles.
